Why upgrading is a must

Upgrading your CCH Tagetik application is a must. There are a few reasons why upgrading your CCH Tagetik application is crucial, as you can read in the article 'Why you should upgrade your CCH Tagetik application.

CCH Tagetik in public or private cloud

Most organizations that use CCH Tagetik are already using cloud environments. There are two cloud options:

  • Public cloud
  • Private cloud

For the private cloud version, you can choose when to upgrade to a newer version. You are in control. Also, you can limit the impact on your application by knowing which bugs other organizations have encountered in the latest release.

You do not have that choice if you're in the public cloud environment. Your application will be upgraded according to the release calendar of CCH Tagetik – if it is compatible with your CCH Tagetik Pre-package solution, such as Solvency 2 and IFRS16.

CCH Tagetik on-premise

If you are still on-premise, you have the same advantages as private cloud users. You can upgrade anytime to any higher CCH Tagetik version that aligns with your upgrade policy.

Know the impact of the new CCH Tagetik releases

Whether in the public or private cloud or on-premise, all organizations using CCH Tagetik have one thing in common: you will be confronted with continuous improvements and developments. It's crucial that you are aware of what is new in the upgrades and what the impact is on your application. Do you know what will be different or relevant for you?

Often, we see that interesting new features are not known. Not surprisingly, as people usually do not have the time to go through the release notes thoroughly: There are so many releases and so many notes in the releases. For our experts, it's different. It's our core task to go through all the release notes and gain insight into the impact of the new release. Also, we can share the lessons we learned as we deal with many CCH Tagetik environments.

Technical and functional aspects

Also, we see that some users tend to prefer either the technical or the functional aspects. However, both areas must be considered to properly assess the release's impact and prepare your organization.

Technical aspects of the new CCH Tagetik release

New releases help drive continuous developments, but they also require technical upgrades. For example, the upgrade could impact the Tagetik Data Loader (TDL): the TDL version must be compatible with the upgraded CCH Tagetik version's requirements.

For the newest service pack, some technical upgrades are needed for those organizations that use CCH Tagetik on-premise. If you're an on-premise user, you will have to upgrade, for example, for Wildfy, Websphere Liberty, JBoss EAP, and Oracle Weblogic.

Functional aspects of the new CCH Tagetik release

On the functional side, the release notifications could be relevant for your data integration, data collection process, data entry, reporting and disclosure, etc. Knowing the ins and outs helps you to get even more out of the new features.

For the latest release, for example, do not miss out on the new Collaborative Office (Intelligent disclosure), where you can use all data from all different CCH databases and Excel files. Another great feature is that you do not have to create all kinds of ETLs to transfer all the data to disclose the figures. And how about using Artificial Intelligence in finance: just ask what you'd like to see and get the results without having to design a report.

Stay up-to-date with our experts' insights

At Swap Support, we understand it takes a lot of time to review the whole list for each Service Pack release. Also, it might be complex to understand the impact on your application. Therefore, for many organizations, our experts summarize the effects for their specific situations. As this is our field of expertise, we can do this much more efficiently. Also, as we're guiding so many organizations through the releases, we notice whenever a bug pops up and share these lessons learned with all the other organizations we're supporting.

This enables you to stay in charge of your application, know the impact, and prevent unexpected outcomes on both technical and functional levels. Staying up-to-date ensures you get everything out of your application.
