Save time on logic group criteria in Oracle FDMEE
by Bert Dotinga
Are you using Logic Groups in your FDMEE (Data Management) application? Maintaining the criteria for these Logic Groups can be time-consuming and frustrating. Our experts have developed two new reports to solve this. These reports give you an overview of the logic groups and enable you to search for criteria, saving you a lot of time.
Two common frustrations when using Logic Groups in Oracle FDMEE
At Swap Support, we developed two new reports to solve two common frustrations when using Logic Groups in Oracle FDMEE (Data Management). First, we often hear that it’s hard to keep an overview as the criteria are not directly visible in the main Logic Group window.
Secondly, you must open each row to see which criteria are behind it.
New report for logic group criteria developed by our specialists
Reasons for the specialists at Swap Support to develop a report to solve these frustrations. After all, that’s what our experts love to do: find ways to help you get even more out of your applications.
This report in FDMEE gives you an overview of all the Logic Groups items, including the criteria. The report enables you to scroll through all the criteria quickly. The biggest benefit? You can search on the criteria! So now you can easily find the corresponding logic group based on one of the dimension criteria or check the setup after maintenance.
How to use the Logic Group report in Oracle FDMEE
Once installed, the report ‘Logic Group All Criteria’ can be accessed from the Report section in Data Management. There is also a second report for logic groups where criteria are missing. We’ll delve into this second report later in the article.
When you run the report, you can choose for which Logic Group you want to run the report and in which format to produce the output:
In this example, we produced the output in an Excel format. Please see the screenshot below. We can now see all the corresponding criteria values per logic group row in one table.
Unwanted duplicate rows due to missing criteria in Oracle FDMEE
As mentioned, maintaining the criteria can be a fiddly task. Sometimes, the update doesn’t go well, and criteria are missing. In that case, you produce a lot of unwanted duplicate rows during the import and validation of data.
Often, it’s quickly noticeable this is due to incorrect logic groups and probably because of missing criteria in one of the logic group items. Searching which criteria are missing is cumbersome, especially if you have hundreds or more logic group items.
Missing criteria report in Oracle FDMEE
At Swap Support, we built a second report: ‘Logic Group missing criteria’ to solve this issue. This report shows you any logic group item where criteria are missing. This means you don’t have to go through each logic group row separately and check if criteria might be missing.
In the example below, we see that the criteria are missing for one logic group item, ‘LG_2378’. You can search for that logic group item and add the corresponding criteria using the report.
How to install the logic group criteria reports
The reports we developed can be installed easily. Each report contains one query and an underlying report template (rtf). Please contact Bert Dotinga to acquire the reports.
Bert will provide you with the report objects and instructions on implementing the reports, which is a 10-minute task. Alternatively, we can install the reports for you.
